The tech people need to freeze a different view of Mr. Kurtz because he looks like something from a comic book with one eye open and the other closed. Especially since it is the first pic at the top of the screen.

having read many of the comments at nyt.com on the truth vigilante question, media appears ever more disconnected with it's purpose and its public than ever. the overwhelming theme from those comments is that media routinely acts as stenographer to lies while the public's perception of media's purpose is to act as champions of truth, a function which has been increasingly dismissed or beyond the grasp of stenographers posing as reporters posing as journalists. that this crystal clear and overwhelming response was summarily dismissed and ignored because it did not fit within the microscopically narrow, rhetorical and self-serving confines of the public editor's excessively engineered question is testimony to media's refusal to see itself honestly. clearly, the public feels that for every speculative assertion impossible to confirm or deny in absolute terms, there are literally dozens of lies which achieve standing or gain traction because they pass through the media virtually unfiltered to a public that is certain that media's Only function is to provide that filter, that is, to be vigilant when it comes to the truth. For the public editor, the editor in chief and howard kurtz to absolve media regarding the public editor's original self evident, self-serving microscopic question as if were relevant while simultaneously failing perfectly to honestly consider the virtually unanimous voice of a response they themselves characterize as overwhelming is a pretty good measure of, not only the magnitude of their disconnect with Both the public And the facts, but how dismally modern media measures up to it's first amendment responsibility to provide for an informed electorate or this case, their failure to so much as acknowledge their responsibility to provide for an informed electorate. Or what informed means.
It is, however, encouraging that the number of people voicing their dismay, disdain, disgust, etc. for media's central role in the collapse of this civilization seems to be growing.
