The lavish 2009 Halloween party WAS secret. No one knew about it until Jodi Kantor's book came out. The White House and the WH press corps colluded to keep this story under wraps. Johnny Depp's and the other Hollywood invitees' names didn't even get on to the WH guest logs. Strange. When Amy Holmes brought it up, Kurtz said he would have more to say about it later in the program, but he never did.
This is why Mr. Kurtz is such a HORRIBLE person to be a critic in this way.
Watch how this segment is conducted.
Howard sets up Amy Holmes. Tees up the attack. Then lets a woman from Glenn Beck's "The Blaze" follow up and attack.
Then he goes to David Shuster and asks, "Could anyone else get away with this?". Making Shuster defend the White House FLOTUS and CBS.
Each time he sets up the attack for the Right, and then forces the person on the Left to defend. Not allowing Shuster to comment on either his question or Holmes insanity. She gets softballs and he has to serve as defender of the WH and the media in general.
Disgusting Mr.Kurtz. You are pathetically unbalanced and you feel yourself to be a qualified arbiter.
It was really despicable that Howard allowed Amy Holmes to characterize the White House’s Alice In Wonderland Halloween Party as “secret” without any follow-up. See the clip from the Colbert Report. Once again, the “fake” news gets it right and the “real” news allows the smears to go unchallenged. Howard, I’m beginning to think your show should be called “Unreliable Sources.”
Now more than ever, the press is a part of every story it covers. And CNN's "Reliable Sources" is one of television's only regular programs to examine how journalists do their jobs and how the media affect the stories they cover.
Brian Stelter is the host of "Reliable Sources" and the senior media correspondent for CNN Worldwide. Before he joined CNN in November 2013, Stelter was a media reporter for The New York Times. He is the author of the New York Times best-seller "Top of the Morning."

It's amazing that Holmes and Kurtz show up anywhere other than Fox News.
