Reliable Sources is in Charlotte, NC this Sunday in anticipation of the 2012 Democratic National Convention. President Obama is no longer the upstart Senator from Illinois, will Democrats be able to hold the attention of the American public and present their message to media descending on Charlotte?
Three days of speeches and delegate counts in Tampa, FL gave Republicans a chance to tout their 2012 platform, show off rising GOP stars (not to mention a surprise appearance from Clint Eastwood) and officially present Mitt Romney as the only choice on Election Day. Did the press bite?
And has MSNBC’s Chris Matthews go too far? Monday morning, Matthews angrily accused Chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus of “foreignization” of the Obama administration. Did the prime-time anchor go too far?
David Drucker, of Roll Call Magazine, Christina Bellatoni, of PBS NewsHour, and Lauren Ashburn, of Daily-Download.com discuss the week in coverage of the 2012 RNC and look ahead to the DNC Tuesday.
Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney made their case for the 2012 presidential elections in speeches Wednesday and Thursday. Will it convince voters to pick the GOP on November 6th?
Jennifer Rubin, of The Washington Post and John Aravosis, of AmericaBlog.com discuss how effective the convention was, as well as how media covered the event.
Adam Sharp, an executive for Twitter, discusses how social media has played a major role in conventions this year.
This Sunday at 11am ET.

Really disappointed that you didn't bring up the counter view to why the President didn't meet with Israel's prime minister. If he meets with the prime minister then Romney, as the opposing candidate, has to be given that same opportunity. What would be worse for a President running for office than having your opponent be seen on camera meeting with his friend the prime minister, the prime minister personally you don't agree with very much.
Ms. Rubin's defense of Paul Ryan's lies is exactly the kind of male cow manure which is why people distrust politicians. To string together "facts" to imply something that is not true is a lie anywhere but in the universe of politicians. Counting on the public to be stupid is stupid. And her talking over others makes her a perfect person to put in a room with Chris Matthews, lock the door and throw away the key. One less person on each side of the debate who is rude and fact challenged. Might help us get closer to a useful discussion.
What a horrible stupid woman. Paul Ryan is a liar. Remember his sub 2 minute marathon??? They lie so much they don't even know they are doing it. Pathological.
I was a McCain support in 2000 aothlugh he is not the ideal candidate, he is going to get my support for President if he is the candidate. It will still be interesting as Huckabee has a chance to win a number of southern states on Super Tuesday. If he and McCain are the big winners, and Romney falls out ..it will be interesting to see what happens. Personally I like Huckabee and if he does win a number of states on Super Tuesday what will that mean.
Does Jennifer Rubin think SHE is a journalist? Honest to Pete, this show has fallen if you bring HER on to discuss 'bias' in the media. WHAT A HACK! She isn't just a mouth piece for the GOP she is a mouth piece for REINCE PREIBUS. There wasn't a 'talking point' she didn't use to defend his smarmy snarky garbage. It was truly despicable. John Avalon tried to address the LIES and Rubin goes off on 'fact checkers'? Shouldn't SHE be fact checking? But no. OBAMA IS ALL WRONG and WE are the party of GOOD. And you call your show 'RELIABLE SOURCES'?
Miss Rubin does protest too much. She can't take the truth and is just as guilty as Mathews about interupting.
Romney & Eastwood
The press is missing the point. The US has had almost 4 years of a leader who can deliver a great speech. Now, we are looking for someone who can deliver results. I believe Romney's speech and the Republican convention showed that Mitt Romney is that type of person.
As for Eastwood, it played very well with those people who were able to understand it. The press seems to unilaterally focus on a couple of aspects of Eastwood's speech and ignore some other important points for instance the "green" Obama who flies all over the country in a monstrously huge gas hog to promote his political ambitions. Maybe the press is able to do what the invisible Obama requested.
Where have the journalists who discussed amazement at all the wonderful things they learned about Romney been for the past year? So amazed to learn about his good deeds as a member/leader in the Mormon Church! I am only an insignificant, not-a-television-commentating school teacher, but I was well aware of his religious good works from the "Real Romney" book that was written by two Boston Globe reporters. And knowing that he was generous with his own church hasn't made up for the fact that he dodged paying taxes to support the U.S. with offshore accounts. For that alone, he does not deserve to be President. By the way, as a teen-ager, i admired his father's courage at the 1964 GOP convention.
Not sure if Clint Eastwood was a good choice or not. In any case, I am concerned by "Smiling Mitt" and his lack of details on his plans. I keep thinking that he has a game plan that is NOT going to be good for ordinary Americans. He only cares for the wealthy and he should. They the ones bankrolling him. I cannot even imagine what they will ask in return. He will not be the president of all people.
