Sneak peek at this Sunday's show

By Cassie Spodak, CNN

The foreign policy debate on Monday was heavy on substance, but light on buzz. By mid-week the headlines had moved on to Donald Trump’s newest grab for attention and President Obama’s media blitz with Jay Leno, Brian Williams and Rolling Stone. But the pundits were still quick to take sides on Romney and Obama’s performances. Even if Obama won the debates 2 to 1, how much does it matter? Romney seemed to agree with much of what Obama said on Monday, is he moving further and further to the center?

Michael Shear of The New York Times, Lauren Ashburn of the Daily-Download.com, and political blogger Craig Crawford discuss coverage of the debate as well as all the distractions that took over the press this week. Where was the in-depth discussion of the foreign policy platforms put forth by the candidates?

They will also take on the puzzling interaction between the Des Moines Register and President Obama – why did the campaign request the interview be off the record, only to give in once editor Rick Green published a blog post about it?

Matt Lewis of The Daily Caller, and John Aravosis of AmericaBlog sound off on how the presidential debate played out for Obama and Romney as well as the pundits’ twist on it.

Media critic for The Baltimore Sun David Zurawik discusses how the Obama campaign has leaned heavily on entertainment shows and magazines this week while Romney has stuck to stump speeches along the campaign trail. How have both strategies played out for the candidates?

Howard Kurtz also about the recently deceased BBC TV icon Jimmy Savile and the accusations that he abused hundreds of children.

This Sunday, 11am ET.

Hello there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I'm getting sick and tired of WordPress because I've had issues
with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be fantastic if you could point me in the
    direction of a good platform.

Very good website you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any user discussion forums that cover the same topics discussed in this article? I’d really love to be a part of online community where I can get responses from other knowledgeable people that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!

Romney is savvy and scripted. Sometimes that's a plus and soitmemes it's a minus. I like to see evidence of spontaneity, self-confidence, sincerity, personal values these days campaigns are so highly-funded and carefully plotted out that it's hard to tell what we are actually seeing. I think in some ways that is very detrimental. But it may be unavoidable, to a great extent. I've brought this up before, but I'll never forget attending a George Bush (the first one) event at Brigham Young University (during his campaign) and being hugely disappointed. Here was a man who had been a pilot in WWII, a diplomat to China, the head of the CIA, etc. and etc., and instead of teaching us anything or sharing any personal wisdom he had gained over time, he served us up political twinkies that were calculated to please the local audience. It was a total joke and for some reason the audience was cheering the whole time. It felt like I was at an early Beatles rock concert with a couple of thousand brainless 14-year-old girls (not a good thing, at all).Politics really interests me but the process can be quite a disappointment soitmemes.

What a completely useless opening discussion on so many levels. Why don't you spend the whole show talking about your trashy coverage of the trash, so you can play the clips of you playing the trash, while you trash the trash? Really, next week please cover how sensational media coverage, pretending to be speaking for "journalists", think that the "idea" of what Sununu said was fine, when that was not the point of what he actually said. Sununu walks one thing back in his entire spewing career and you are basically disputing his walk back in saying that you don't see anything wrong with the "idea" of saying that African Americans could want to support an African American President? You don't think he wa clearly saying that all of the policy reasons that Powell gave were likely not his real positions, but rather positions fabricated to find a reason to support a President that "looks" like him? Even your poor guests have no clue what's going on most of the time or which way to turn. Pick two or three media focused topics and put a little research and analysis behind them, instead of pulling the same easy clips of Donald Trump and the President on Leno that we have seen a hundred times. Don't bother covering Sandy when you can just talk about how obsessed the media is with big storms and how the media is so foolish to still be relying on electricity to reach the public and leaves itself open to being quieted by the impending power outages that the storm will cause.....arghhh . If you don't do a whole show that is critical of the media critics, I'm done watching "Reliable" Sources.

I am amazed by the assertion that Romney's reversals on his public record don't matter to voters. This is one voter who is outraged by this candidates's brazen lying and not being called out on this directly by the press corps. It is most certainly a character issue and the fact that you guys are debating this instead of doing something about it – is part of the big problem. I am really tired of hearing how the great masses are not discerning – many of us are very much aware of this unbelievable shallow nonsense being spouted by this "professional liar."

As a voter, I have little recourse when listening to this man's unprecedented B.S. in this campaign. Other than exercising my right to vote, I feel powerless as a citizen to do anything about it. You people have the power to get to many individuals through television. It would be my greatest wish if someone would just call a "spade a spade" and stop dickering on camera about whether the unprecedented level of dishonesty by this man is a problem.

My answer to that question is "No S@#t, Sherlocks".

Of course voters care about Mitt Romney changing his position seemingly daily. Voters don't know who they are voting for. Romney's changing positions are frightening. As a voter, I want to trust the candidate I am voting for. I want to feel I know him and that my vote means something.

It doesn't matter if Romney has shifted a million times and he is settling into a moderate.......look who he picked for his vice president! Why aren't the media talking more about that?!!!!
