The administration is reaching for power. They are stomping on the first amendment i couldn't agree more. I agree with concerned this story is only being covered because it affects the media.
Howard Kurtz sounds like a White House press secretary when covering the AP Under Assault story. Every other sentence he would stress that what was done was legal, which concerns me that as the mediator he is stating that, when members in Congress are disputing that point. They did not follow the rules for how to notify or what to access. They pulled everything. I think the real story is that the AP almost didn't know. The administration has been pulling phone records on American people in bulk without warrants for years. The only reason the story is now carefully being covered is because it affects the media. Joe Concha had good comments, but Howard would cut him off and carefully water down this story. Reliable Sources has become a joke.
Now more than ever, the press is a part of every story it covers. And CNN's "Reliable Sources" is one of television's only regular programs to examine how journalists do their jobs and how the media affect the stories they cover.
Brian Stelter is the host of "Reliable Sources" and the senior media correspondent for CNN Worldwide. Before he joined CNN in November 2013, Stelter was a media reporter for The New York Times. He is the author of the New York Times best-seller "Top of the Morning."
